Ok, so how about something like this? Since the wiki is going to be semi-private, I guess we can suppose our users know what it is about, so we can use the main page to show interesting things and ask for help. Note that the main categories now appear as links, because I guess it would be cool to turn them into "portals". What do you think?

I definitely think its an improvement. And I was thinking along the ideas of turning the main categories into portals too, so I think its the right direction and would work. Lets talk about it on the forums: http://ladderwiki.com/forum/index.php?topic=57.0
