Ross Jeffries

Ross Jeffries is often referred to as the father of seduction, and laid much of the groundwork for the online seduction community. He began his research in the 1970s and read lots of books on Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or "NLP", which is a study of quasi-hypnosis through suggestive terms used in normal conversation. The books he read were general psychology books, and were geared towards marketing or therapy techniques, but Jeffries focused the theory toward seducing women. His best known tactics are "patterns" and "anchors", where through long, rehearsed sets of speeches, one suggests stimulating experiences (such as the rush down a roller coaster, or the fierce rocking of a boat on waves on a windy, sunny day) and finds ways to associate them with the speaker, or associates other objects and areas with the good feelings brought out by the speech pattern. From there, the seductionist can simply refer to the anchored spot, or use the anchored word, to immediately place the woman into an aroused state.

With a solidified school of thought in place, which he dubbed "Speed Seduction", he began posting to internet newsgroups, mailing lists, selling instructional cassette and VHS tapes, and giving seminars. Not only was he having plenty of sex, but also making plenty of money.

This was the dominant, and mostly lone and unchallenged form of focused, tactical seduction available through the 1980s, and was greatly an underground community. Much like the very word "seduction", the patterning and anchoring techniques were sometimes seen as suspicious, "voodoo", and evil. In the 1990s, some students of his such as David DeAngelo started formulating their own ideas and teaching their own seduction strategies that seemed more organic and less scientific or "cheating".

Jeffries is known for being selfish, guarded, greedy, unattractive, and manipulative, yet the effectiveness of his strategies has been proven to work.
